A Seattle-PI (originating from the Spokesman Review) states that President Rawlins got a bonus this year bringing his pay to $514,450 + use of a car and a house. Regent Rafael Stone thinks that is about the same level of pay the new WSU president will be making. Seems some of WSU's faculty are not thrilled by this, from the article:
"One person doesn't make a university," said Charles Pezeshki, chairman
of the Faculty Senate at WSU, where in two years the average raise for
faculty has been 5 percent and 3 percent. "It's a bunch of us that make
a university. We've seen executive pay in the administrative cadre go
up and up and up, and faculty pay has languished."
WSU is a big place with multiple areas to administer, a huge budget, and of course over 20k students around the state. The president needs a 6 figure income...but a half mill a year? Here is the link to the article.
