Well we have had some feedback/criticism on our posting WSU employees' pay and on the question if professors are over or underpaid.
A WSU professor writes:
"Hey (Cougster.com) team,

First, your salary information does not include all wsu employees (far from it).. You claim you do; false advertising! Don't be so sloppy, please.

Second, how would we know whether they are overpaid or underpaid? To do so, you would have to post information that compares across similar institutions ('peer institutions'). We rank second from bottom...
Meaning that WSU seriously stands to lose some of its best professors. We could turn this in to a nice community college, if we want to...

I applaud what you are doing. But get educated, dudes, don't propagate erroneous information and numbers devoid of context. Remember, we are ALL cougs!"

Well we did mention 3 posts below this one that we did not have every WSU employee listed but we do have most (4800+) and hopefully all soon. One could make a judgment that a person is underpaid/overpaid even if they are getting the standard market rate for their position (you might not agree with the market's valuation). We do agree looking at other institutions would be beneficial. If some of our readers want to provide this information and elaborate on WSU pay relative to other universities/organizations we encourage you to post in the forums and you can also email us at
