MakeTextBooksAffordable.com has released a report on the high prices of textbooks. It details some of the reasons why textbooks are outrageously priced and what we can do. One of these is tell professors and administrators to pressure textbook publishers to make no frills textbooks, that don’t have cd-roms and other junk and that are not hardback, available. We need to end spending $500+ on textbooks a semester. See a summery of the report and a link to the whole thing here

YouTube, the #1 video sharing site now has just added a facebook like feature where students can join with their student email address and so can upload and watch videos just from their peers and those with out school email addresses can not. WSU is not on the list of schools yet but it will just be a matter of time (but UW is :-(. It will be interesting to see what students put up...but remember nothing can really be restricted entirely to just the people you want. If you post "questionable" video admins, employers, etc will be able to see some how.

WSU Office of Student Conduct's page has an online form to inform on cheaters in class. Though it seems to be for professors to report their students, anybody can fill the form in. If most WSU students knew about this, do you think they would report their fellow classmates for cheating? Would you?

From the where are they now department.
Two former WSU quarterbacks, Ryan Leaf and Jason Gesser, who both lead WSU to Rose Bowl appearances, have become coaches. Leaf is now an unpaid coach for West Texas A&M.

Jason Gesser is located closer by at Federal Way High School where he is an assistant coach. He is also still playing football and has a 2-year contract with the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League. As for his future plans Gesser says:

"If I get another opportunity in the NFL, great, but if I don't, I'm not hanging my hat on that. Actually, I'm kind of playing until I get a call from Washington State that says, 'Hey, we need a quarterback coach over here.' " (from the Seattle Times)
