The always fun FCC is warning of the dangerous of the internet and World of Warcraft, blaming the game for causing some kids to dropout of college. We usually are not in agreement with the FCC but we actually know some who have dropped out partly do to WoW...so there is at least some truth to Federal Communications Commissioner Deborah Taylor's speech at the Telecom Policy and Regulation Institute.

WSU President Elson Floyd has decided to kick back $100,000 to WSU because of the tough economic times facing the state meaning budget problems for WSU.

From Dnews.com:

"These are exceedingly tough times for my students, faculty and staff," Floyd said in a prepared statement released by the university. "We will be asking them to think more creatively and work harder with less as we deal with budgetary restraints. It is incumbent upon me to lead by example."

His salary will go from $725,000 to $625,000 starting Jan 1. While it is easier to give back money when you are earning over a half million a year than say $30k, it is still a commendable move by Floyd. We will see if UW President Mark Emmert, #2 highest paid in the nation, at least matches this move or will a Coug outclass a Husky yet again?

WSU and UW presidents are raking in the dough. Floyd is now making 748k a year which works out to over $62,000 a month! Keep in mind the living cost in Pullman are relatively low, he lives in the president's house (so no rent), and he has got an  WSU apartment in Seattle! This makes the 6th highest paid college president in the nation!

Even higher on the list is UW's Mark Emmert pulling down a cool $887k a year making him #2 in the nation.

Now you know who to hit up next time your student club is having a fundraiser.
