Ever since I found out information about the remodel fo the CUB, I started to call it the Bookie mall. We were taking 1/4 of the floor space and turning it to the Bookie. By doing so we lost the arcade, pool, and bowling from the CUB. I am critical of the idea students pay money for the books, and the profilts are used to pay rent for the space. Plus students pay a flat fee as well. That is like double dipping.

After having toured the Bookie Mall a couple weeks ago, I have to say I was underwhelmed. The colors were straight from the 1970's. The ligh fixtures in the main floor areas were also 1970's. People complained the CUB was too 50's looking. Well now we are in the 70's.

The building earned a LEED designation due to the way it was built. If earning that award means the building will be as aweful as the CUB on the inside, I hope the school will not attempt to earn any more LEED awards.

The theatre is pretty nice, but the theatre and ball room are not worth the millions of dollars pumped into it.

I guess my biggest complaint is the fact that it is a mall on campus and not so much of a student union.

When student organizations that were located in the old CUB had to fight for space in the new building, yet the Bookie took up 1/4 of the floor space for retail, that is a problem.

I guess as long as there are still places to go lounging between classes and places to stay warm on the cold snowy days, that is all the will matter in 10 years when those students had no idea what it was like before the bowling alley was removed and the bookie had its own store.

Yeah it was total BS. $82 million, the contractor did well, students got screwed. The election was a sham. They spent student money to tell students to vote yes.
